It goes without saying that the Cape is one of, if not THE MOST, beautiful cities in South Africa. The breath-taking views and winding roads to Cape Point on those lazy Sundays, you name it and the mother city has it. What can be better than beautiful mountains and ocean views? We’ll tell you, and it rhymes with wine, wait it is wine – well, that and cheese because WINE NOT!

  1. Peter Falke Wines

Situated just off the R44, on Annandale Road, lies a slice of heaven you just simply MUST dig into! Inspired by the French countryside, this beautiful restaurant and wine cellar is a 5-star experience. Home to one of the cities' best-selling wines, the Blanc de Noir’ – Peter Falke ALSO has a varied and colourful cheese platter that almost seems too pretty to eat, but not ACTUALLY too pretty too eat right? Have a try and let us know!

  1. Bartinney Wine & Champagne Bar

Don’t get us wrong, wine farms really are ALL THAT – but it’s always nice to try something new, hence the sudden trend of wine bars popping up everywhere. There’s something quite unique about sipping on a glass of your fave Pinot, paired with a cheese platter for two whilst the urban streets of the city hum with a strangely calming chaos. Grab a table and people-watch away!

Wine tasting

  1. Fairview

There’s been a lot of talk about wine tasting, but let’s not forget about the cheese, you can NEVER forget about the cheese. Fairview makes that LITERALLY impossible with their incredible and generous ‘cheese tasting’.  In the heart of Durbanville, always packed with cheese and wine lovers from here, there and everywhere – make sure to get there early and jump in on the cheese-tasting festivities, you won’t regret it.

  1. Brampton’s Wine Studio

Once again, not your usual wine-tasting experience – but SO worth it. Serving only their own wines, Brampton’s is known for their yummy menu and delicious “GRAPE JUICE” to match. There’s not only cheese though, there’s so much more to choose from, which is the best problem anyone could have, EVER. Be sure to catch the Brampton’s pop-up stand at almost EVERY food market held in the Winelands area!

  1. Ken Forrester

A hidden gem located on the doorstep of the Helderberg mountain – you know what they say, life’s a climb and all that – but it seems much more alluring when it’s accompanied by a glass of wine! Most well-known for their Petit Chenin Blanc, the dainty spot also offers a DELISH cheese platter that rounds off the stunning taste of the Chenin. Try something new and go somewhere new.

The Winelands is endless, so use our suggestions as guidelines, but you’ve been warned – there’s A LOT of cheese and wine on the horizon, so what you are waiting for, get TASTING!
