MEET STEPHAN GEITLINGER

If you like to think of yourself as a man who enjoys the finer things in life, if you would use the words suave and sophisticated to describe yourself, and if you don’t yet know about HERMANOS - Cape Town’s trendiest new barbershop – then do yourself a favour and check them out.

As part of our VELDSKOEN™ Stories, we spent some time with the founder of HERMANOS to find out more about this awesome new spot.

Started by Stephan Geitlinger, HERMANOS – named after the Spanish word for “brothers” – offers a premium grooming experience in the heart of the city. Their menu includes cuts, shaves, and colour treatments, with macho names such as “The Dante”, “The Fritz”, and “The Gigante”, that’ll make even Chuck Norris shake in his boots. And, you can book any one of these services online.

According to Geitlinger, the idea for HERMANOS all started after he received a really great haircut at his local barbershop.

“On the whole, I was used to getting a pretty mixed bag of haircuts when it came to quality - sometimes good, sometimes bad; it all depended on the day. That particular day, I was given a great haircut and a fantastic shave. The rest of my day followed with energy, enthusiasm and excitement; I got compliments on how good I looked and the positivity I carried. I soon realised the impact a good haircut and shave could really have.

“I knew then that there was something special about a visit to the barber; not only did good service result in me feeling great about myself, but it actually defined the direction of my entire day going forward. The feeling became addictive and the idea was born,” says Geitlinger.

But it’s not just the service that’s outstanding at HERMANOS, it’s the whole package. The décor oozes old-world charm, while also remaining rustic and sophisticated all at once. It’s the ultimate man-cave with its blue-panelled walls and vintage barbershop chairs.

“Every single detail in our space has been analysed, studied, and debated to ensure that ours is the best available offering to our clients. The devil is in the details, and businesses often tend to overlook this. We pride ourselves in this ethos, and we believe it is creating an impact on the local barber industry,” says Geitlinger.

“Our barbers also advocate education through consultation; sharing tips and tricks with clients to ensure they can replicate a look or just ensuring proper hair and skin care. There is a trust and reliability factor when dealing with our barbers.”

So, sit back, relax, and enjoy a freshly brewed cup of java or a smooth whiskey on the rocks, while a curated playlist emanates some hypnotic beats, letting you forget the world outside for a while, all while being groomed to manly perfection.

We wish you well chaps, and thank you so much for the amazing work you do!
